Since its inaugural season in 2007, the American soccer club North Carolina FC, previously known as the Carolina RailHawks, has competed in the second division of American soccer in a variety of leagues. The team currently competes in the USL Championship after stints in the North American Soccer League, USSF Division 2 Professional League and USL First Division.
