The Krishnaram Baldeo Bank was a bank founded in the year 1916 in Gwalior State, India.[1] The bank was the one of the precursors of the State Bank of India.[2]
The bank was eventually merged with the State Bank of India in 1975.[3][4][2]
History
Founding
The bank had been founded in 1916 in Gwalior State. Its founder was the Maharaja Madho Rao Scindia.[2]
The bank obtained its banking license from the Reserve Bank of India in 1958.[5]
Management
One of the first managers of the bank was Jall N. Broacha, a Parsi.[5][6]
The bank had most of its offices and branches in the Gwalior State.[7][8] The bank was headquartered in Gwalior.[7][8]
Final years
In 1975, the bank was acquired by the State Bank of India.[3][4][2]
Legacy
The bank is notable for having played a major role in the history of the financial ecosystem of Gwalior State.[9]
Even today, the building of the erstwhile Krishnaram Baldeo Bank continues to serve as the building of SBI's main branch in Gwalior.
