Kamal Khujandi (1320-1400 AD, Persian: کمال خجندی, Tajik: Камоли Хуҷандӣ), also Kamal Khojandi, Kamaleddin Khojandi, or Kamal-E Khojandi, was a PersianSufi and Persianghazal poet of the 14th century (8th century hijri).[1]
He is counted among the great romantic poets of the 14th century, like Amir Khosrow Dehlavi, Khwaju Kermani and Hafez. He was also a contemporary of Hafez. The modern Persian novelist and short story writer Sadegh Hedayat and his family trace their ancestry to Kamal Khojandi.[2]
Contemporary Persian and Classical Persian are the same language, but writers since 1900 are classified as contemporary. At one time, Persian was a common cultural language of much of the non-Arabic Islamic world. Today it is the official language of Iran, Tajikistan and one of the two official languages of Afghanistan.
