The ZNTK Poznań SA105 (manufacturer designations Type 213M and 213Ma) is a Polish light diesel railcar (often referred to in Poland as a szynobus or railbus) produced between 2002 and 2004 by the Poznań Repair Shops of Railway Rolling Stock (ZNTK Poznań). A total of 7 units were built, which were delivered to the local governments of the Greater Poland Voivodeship and Lubusz Voivodeship.

History

At the turn of the 21st century, Polskie Koleje Państwowe (PKP) and newly formed Polish voivodeship governments were looking for highly economical, lightweight vehicles to service local, low-traffic railway lines. Sending a standard locomotive with passenger coaches on these routes was financially unsustainable. ZNTK Poznań responded to this market demand by designing the single-car Type 213M.

The first two units (SA105-001 and 002) were purchased by the Greater Poland Voivodeship. They initially entered service around Poznań, and were later reallocated to regional routes centered around Leszno and Ostrów Wielkopolski.

Following the initial production run, ZNTK Poznań developed an upgraded version designated as Type 213Ma. The Lubusz Voivodeship purchased five of these units (numbered from 101 to 105). The 213Ma variant featured an improved engine cooling system and minor interior modifications. These railcars were deployed to service routes such as Gorzów WielkopolskiZielona Góra and connections to Żagań.

Design

The SA105 is a single-car, bi-directional vehicle. Unlike traditional passenger trains that use two-axle bogies, the SA105 features a simpler configuration with two single axles (axle arrangement A1). This design choice significantly lowered the total curb weight of the vehicle and reduced production costs, though it resulted in a firmer ride quality on uneven tracks.

Interior

The middle section of the railcar features a low-floor area comprising approximately 37% of the total floor space. This design provides barrier-free access for passengers with limited mobility, strollers, or bicycles. A closed-system accessible toilet is located within this low-floor zone. The vehicle is fitted with automatic, sliding-plug passenger doors.

Propulsion

The railcar is powered by a six-cylinder MAN diesel engine (Type D2866 LUH21) producing 257 kW. The engine is coupled to a Voith hydromechanical transmission, which transfers power directly to one of the vehicle's axles.
