Run and Chill is an independent multi-sport community based in Munich, Germany. Founded in September 2024 by Mirthe van Veen, the community organises four free weekly training sessions across running, swimming and cycling, and operates without a formal membership structure or registration as a German Verein.[1][2] In May 2026, the Munich online magazine Mucbook included Run and Chill in its editorial list of the ten best running clubs in Munich.[1]
Run and Chill was founded in September 2024 in Munich by Mirthe van Veen.[2] The community was established as an informal multi-sport training group, with a stated focus on welcoming residents new to Munich and providing weekly training with light coaching structure outside the framework of a registered sports club.[2] By 2026 the community had grown to a regular weekly attendance of approximately 60 to 80 athletes.[1]
The community organises four weekly training sessions at fixed locations across Munich, complemented by swimming and cycling sessions under the same umbrella.[1][3]
A monthly Saturday road-cycling event of approximately 50 km, branded "Bike & Chill", starts from the northern entrance of the Perlacher Forst.[3]
Recurring annual events include a multi-day training camp held in Tyrol, Austria. In May 2026 the community held a weekend camp in Scheffau am Wilden Kaiser for around thirty participants, combining trail running, yoga and recovery sessions.[4] Next to many other special events, the community also organises a meet-up around the Munich Marathon each October.[2]
Run and Chill is not registered as a German Verein and charges no membership fee or per-session fee.[1][5] Mucbook describes the community as emphasising "genuine participation over self-promotion", framing consistency rather than performance as its core value.[1] Sessions are conducted bilingually in English and German, and the community has an international membership.[2]
Reviewing community-led running events in Munich, the marketing and community-building writer Gerrit Dokter cited Run and Chill's training-camp pricing as representative of a "friends-price" model in which a community organisation charges close to cost rather than at a commercial margin.[4]
