Regenerative Purpose is a dynamic and relational framework for purpose, created by author Wendy May and codified in her self-published book of the same name.
It treats purpose as navigation system, rather than personal mission. It counters the traditional goal-oriented view of purpose. Instead it approaches purpose as cyclical in harmony with the rhythms of Nature, an experience that emerges from being in co-creative conversation with Life.
The model describes four core purpose qualities that can be cultivated to counter-balance the default conditioning we have inherited from an ego-driven, individual, success template. These qualities are Wholeness, Attunement, Emergence and Receptivity. Originally released in 2019, the book has received independent recognition from IPPY Awards (silver medal winner, audiobook 2021) and Next Gen Book awards (best new non-fiction finalist, 2021).
Regenerative Purpose was presented at the Global Purpose Summit online in 2021. More recently, it has been featured in the Bio-Leadership Project's fellowship program, and included in curriculum on the Inner Development Goals by nine European universities that are part of the EPICUR network.
The second edition of the book, Regenerative Purpose: The Human Renaissance Edition, is due to be published in 2026.
