Moose Jaws is an upcoming American horror comedy film written and directed by Kevin Smith. The film is the third in Smith's True North trilogy, serving as a spin-off of the first two films Tusk (2014) and Yoga Hosers (2016). It stars Lily-Rose Depp, Harley Quinn Smith, Genesis Rodriguez, and Jason Mewes.
Moose Jaws is basically "Jaws with a moose".
In August 2014, a third installment of Kevin Smith's True North trilogy was announced, Moose Jaws, which Smith says is basically "Jaws with a moose".[1][2] Starstream Entertainment will finance and produce the film, while XYZ Films will sell the foreign rights at the Toronto Film Festival.[1] In June 2015, Harley Morenstein of Epic Meal Time confirmed he will be the lead in the film, following an appearance in the other two offerings.[3] Also in June, Smith revealed that Harley Quinn Smith and Lily-Rose Depp will reprise their roles from Yoga Hosers.[4] In September 2015, Kevin Smith mentioned that his character Silent Bob will be eaten by the killer moose.[5]
In January 2016, Smith confirmed that Jay and Silent Bob will appear in Moose Jaws, setting the True North trilogy within the View Askewniverse.[6] In February 2016, Smith stated filming on Moose Jaws would start in July 2016 in Saskatchewan, Canada.[7] Smith later said filming was slated to begin in May 2016.[8] In June 2018 during a live recording of Smith's podcast Fatman on Batman, he said that he had secured funding for Moose Jaws.[9]
In April 2020, while on Instagram talking about how he finished the first draft of Twilight of the Mallrats, Smith has stated he is getting to work on a new draft of Moose Jaws.[10] In June 2020, Smith revealed he removed Jay and Silent Bob from the latest draft of Moose Jaws.[11][12][13]
In December 2023, Smith announced that production on Moose Jaws would begin in 2024 with Lionsgate producing.[14]
In September 2025, Genesis Rodriguez and Jason Mewes joined the cast, with principal photography scheduled to begin in New Jersey.[15]
