Mathias Kramer (born 25 September 2003) is a German archer. Competing in the recurve bow category, Kramer represents the Germany national team.[1][2] He became European champion with the German men's recurve team at the 2026 European Archery Championships.[3][4]
Career
Kramer competes for Germany at national team level in recurve archery. His profile with the German Shooting and Archery Federation lists his clubs as BSC Werlte and Sherwood Herne, and his coach as Oliver Haidn.[1]
In 2022, he won the bronze medal in the under-21 men's recurve event at the European Youth Archery Championships held in Great Britain.[5]
At the 2023 World Archery Youth Championships held in Limerick, Ireland, Kramer won the bronze medal in the under-21 men's individual recurve event. After finishing 13th in the ranking round, he defeated Mexico's Rodrigo Lopez, India's Kushal Dalal Choudhary, Japan's Taiki Funahashi and Chinese Taipei's Huang Ching-jün in the elimination rounds. He lost 6–4 in the semi-finals to India's Parth Sushant Salunkhe, who later became world champion, before defeating China's Aierdengsang in a shoot-off in the bronze-medal match.[6]
In 2023, Kramer was named among the nominees for Germany's “Junior des Jahres” award for young athletes.[7] Around the same period, he moved into the German senior national squad.[1]
At the 2025 World Archery Championships held in Gwangju, South Korea, Kramer competed in men's individual recurve. He finished 30th in the ranking round with 672 points. In the elimination rounds, he defeated Hong Kong's Wong Sung Tin 6–4 and Bair Torgubaev 6–2, before losing 6–5 to Chinese Taipei's Tang Chih-chun in the round of 32 and finishing 17th in the individual event. The German men's recurve team finished seventh at the championships.[8]
At the 2026 European Archery Championships held in Antalya, Turkey, Kramer won the gold medal in men's team recurve with Jonathan Vetter and Moritz Wieser. Germany finished first in the final ranking ahead of Spain and France.[3] World Archery reported that Germany won both the men's and women's team recurve titles at the same championships.[4]
