Leo AI is an artificial intelligence-powered engineering design copilot for mechanical engineering tasks. It can be used to generate 3D product concepts and CAD parts.[1][2][3][4]

History

Leo AI was founded by Maor Farid and Mordechai (Moti) Moravia, both of whom are mechanical engineering graduates from the Israel Institute of Technology (Technion).[5]

They officially launched Leo AI in May 2023.[6] Later that year, the company was incorporated in Delaware, US in November 2023.[7]

In December 2024, Leo AI partnered with Visiativ, an engineering software reseller, to make AI-powered design tools for engineering teams.[8]

In February 2025, Leo AI released Leo Ideation, an online module designed to test how engineers interact with AI design tools.[9][10]

Leo AI partnered with CoreTechnologies in June 2025, and with BEACON and OpenBOM in July 2025.[11] Also in July 2025, the company received its first patent, “Computerized System and Method for 3D CAD Design Generation.”[12][13] The company also announced a major partnership with TraceParts, one of the world’s largest CAD-content platforms.[14]

Overview

Leo AI, Inc. is headquartered in Cambridge, Massachusetts, United States.[7]

Since its launch, more than 57,000 engineers worldwide have adopted the platform[15] and created over 475,000 3D concepts across industries like aerospace, medical devices, and transport.[16]

Notable angel investors include Bertrand Sicot, former CEO of SolidWorks, and Yossi Matias, Vice President at Google and Head of Google Research.[15][17][7]

Leo AI is used by companies and organizations such as Hewlett-Packard, Scania, Siemens, Mobileye, Bosch, Intel, and Toyota. It is also used by institutions like the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and corporations including Philips, LG, General Electric, and Lockheed Martin.[1][18][16][19][20][21]

Technology

Leo AI is powered by the Large Mechanical Model (LMM), an artificial intelligence system built specifically for mechanical engineering and product design. It works like a Large Language Model (LLM) but focuses on mechanical data instead of text.[17][18]
