Hyunggee Chung (born January 5, 1965) is a Korean entrepreneur, business executive, and management consultant with experience spanning energy, real estate development, private aviation, and strategic advisory services across Asia.

Early Life and Education

Chung was born in South Korea. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Technology and a Master of Science in Polymer Science from Seoul National University, and an MBA from New York University's Stern School of Business.

Career

Energy and Power Generation

Chung operated three major power plants in South Korea utilizing fuel cell technology and combined heat and power (CHP) systems powered by LNG. In 2010, he led the development of what was recognized as the world's largest fuel cell power plant, known as TCS1, receiving coverage from major international media outlets.[1] As part of its community contribution, TCS1 constructed a fully LED-powered vertical farm and donated it to the local municipal authority in Daegu.[2]

Real Estate Development

In 2010, Chung developed and completed Centum Science Park. He is currently redeveloping a former power plant site into a residential apartment complex and developing a media and entertainment complex in the Incheon area featuring virtual studios and digital production facilities.

Management Consulting

Chung served as Head of Asia Pacific at Arthur D. Little, a global management consulting firm, where he advised clients on strategic management and business development. He also served as Senior Advisor to PwC Korea and Samil Accounting. He has held outside director positions at SK Group affiliates and portfolio companies of MBK Partners.

The Cobalt Sky

Following his tenure at Arthur D. Little, Chung founded The Cobalt Sky, an investment and project development company focused on energy consulting and direct business operations. Under this platform, he achieved significant results across renewable energy, power generation, and industrial steam supply. He expanded the business through direct project development as well as proprietary deal sourcing, including acquisitions of business units and companies. Among notable transactions, Chung acquired Everon, an electric vehicle fleet rental company previously held by LGCNS, a subsidiary of LG Group, which had produced limited results under prior ownership.[3] Under new management appointed by Chung, Everon subsequently grew into a major charging station operator in South Korea.

Private Aviation

As Founder and Director of DJET AIR, a private aviation and investment holding company based in Singapore, Chung is preparing to launch private aviation services across Southeast Asia.

Other Activities

Chung advised luxury Italian consumer brands in Korea and a major fintech company in the remittance sector. During the late 1990s internet boom, he worked as a venture capitalist. Earlier in his career, he was a loan project evaluator at Korea Long Term Credit Bank.

Academia

Chung served as Vice President of the Korean Academic Society of Business Administration and taught management courses as an adjunct professor to graduate engineering students at Inha University. He has authored two books on R&D Management[4] and on Energy and Water,[5] and has published articles on corporate restructuring, renewable energy, and water treatment. He has also contributed columns and articles on management issues to major newspapers.
