Won Ha-neul (Korean: 원하늘; born May 25, 2005), known mononymously as Haneul (Korean: 하늘), is a South Korean singer and songwriter. She is a member of the South Korean girl group Kiss of Life under S2 Entertainment.[1]
Early life
Won Ha-neul was born on May 25, 2005, in Suwon, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea. Inspired by her favorite group, Sistar, she pursued singing with the goal of evoking emotions in others through her performances.[2]
Career
2023–present: Debut with Kiss of Life
On May 18, 2023, S2 Entertainment revealed Haneul as the fourth and final member of the upcoming girl group Kiss of Life.[1] The group debuted on July 5, 2023, with their self-titled EP.[3] Prior to the group debut, each member released an individual solo single; Haneul's track, "Play Love Games", was released on June 21, 2023, and notably interpolates the classic baseball song "Take Me Out to the Ballgame".[2]
She participated in composing the melody for the group's B-side "Bye My Neverland".[4]
In a 2024 interview, she reflected on the group's first experience performing on a major international stage at KCON Germany: "That was our first time being on a big stage in front of our international fans. I saw some of the fans dancing to our song and singing along, which really surprised me."[5]
In April 2026, she commented on the group's latest single "Who Is She" at its showcase in Seoul, describing how the track's B-side complemented the lead single by conveying "a more carefree vibe" after its more intense performance-driven counterpart.[6]
Public image
As the group's youngest member and the only one born and raised in South Korea, Haneul has spoken about initially feeling uncertain about her identity as an artist, crediting her bandmates for helping her grow.[2] She occupies a distinct position within the group's internationally diverse lineup.[7] Fellow member Belle has publicly praised her vocal ability and dedication, noting that she learned to play guitar specifically in order to perform one of the group's songs in her own way.[3] Group leader Julie has also highlighted her work ethic, describing her as consistently hardworking and dedicated despite being the youngest member.[2]
Haneul has spoken openly about initially feeling uncertain about her identity as a solo artist after joining a group whose other members had more prior performance experience. She has credited her bandmates for helping her develop a more self-assured stage presence over time.[2] Her growth as a performer attracted particular attention following the group's 2024 EP Lose Yourself, especially in relation to her performance on the hip-hop-inspired track "Igloo", which was described by international press as a standout moment for the group's live presentation.[2][5]
In a 2024 interview with Billboard, she articulated her view of the group's dynamic: "We just respect each other. We acknowledge our differences and the path we went through to get here, so that makes us learn from each other and grow."[7] The same publication named her among the members of Kiss of Life when it designated the group its K-Pop Rookie of the Month for December 2024, in which Haneul reflected on the year: "I thought last year was hectic, but this year really felt like we poured all our youth into it."[8]
