Draft:Gigamon
  • Comment: Nothing here to remotely demonstrate how this overcomes the recent AfD. We would need a huge status quo change of this company before a draft is considered. Until then please respect the consensus of the very recent AfD. Sulfurboy (talk) 18:24, 12 August 2026 (UTC)

Gigamon is an American network security and visibility company headquartered in Santa Clara, California.[1] Acquired by private equity firm Elliott Management in 2017, the company develops network traffic monitoring software and hardware.

History

Gigamon was founded in 2004 as Gigamon Systems, LLC. In 2009, it converted to a corporation and changed its name to Gigamon Inc.

In July 2012, the company filed for an initial public offering (IPO) and went public on the New York Stock Exchange in June 2013 under the ticker symbol "GIMO", raising $128 million.[2][3]

In 2017, private equity firm Elliott Management acquired Gigamon for approximately $1.6 billion, taking the company private.[4]

In December 2022, Gigamon sold its ThreatINSIGHT cybersecurity business to Fortinet.[5] In 2024, private equity firm Siris Capital Group made a strategic minority investment in the company.[6]

In April 2022, Shane Buckley was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer.[7]

Litigation

In April 2021, a federal jury in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas ruled against Gigamon in a patent infringement lawsuit it brought against rival APCON Inc., invalidating five of Gigamon's network data management patents.[8]
