Serbian table tennis player
Aleksandar Karakašević (Serbian Cyrillic: Александар Каракашевић; born 9 December 1975) is a Serbian table tennis player. His powerful backhand has helped him win against some of the top players in the world. He won a bronze medal at the 2011 European Championship. One of his greatest results achieved in USA is his victory at the US Open Championship in July 2007, where he established himself as a world class athlete, winning the tournament title for the 3rd time by defeating Kurashima Yosuke from Japan with the result of 4:0.
In 2020 at the age of 45 he is still playing in German Bundesliga (first German division) representing TTC ZUGBRÜCKE GRENZAU.[1]
Karakašević competed at the 1996, 2004, 2008, 2012, and 2016 Summer Olympics.[2]
On 20 November 2021 it was announced that Karakašević had joined the Serbian Progressive Party.[3]
His father, Milivoj Karakašević was a Yugoslav table tennis player.
