Το εθνόσημο των Μπαχαμών

Το εθνόσημο των νησιών Μπαχάμες περιέχει έναν θυρεό με τα εθνικά σύμβολα της χώρας, τον οποίο βαστούν έναν τετράπτουρο (είδος ψαριού) και ένα πουλί φλαμίνγκο.

Στην κορυφή του θυρεού βρίσκεται ένα κοχύλι που συμβολίζει τη θαλασσινή ζωή. Αυτό ακουμπάει σε μια περικεφαλαία. Κάτω από αυτήν βρίσκεται ο κύριος θυρεός, με σπουδαιότερο σύμβολο ένα πλοίο (φαίνεται να συμβολίζει το πλοίο Σάντα Μαρία του Κολόμβου). Το πλοίο πλέει κάτω από τον ήλιο.

Τα ζώα που στηρίζουν το θυρεό είναι τα εθνικά ζώα της νησιωτικής χώρας και στο κάτω μέρος βρίσκεται το εθνικό ρητό του κράτους. Η γεωγραφία των νησιών υποδηλώνεται από τα ζώα και το πού βρίσκονται στο έμβλημα: το φλαμίνγκο σε γήινο έδαφος και το ψάρι στη θάλασσα.

Τα ζωηρά χρώματα δείχνουν την ελπίδα για ένα λαμπρό μέλλον για τα νησιά. Λέγεται επίσης ότι το εθνόσημο έχει έντονα χρώματα για να ελκύει την προσοχή των τουριστών.

Νησιωτικά εμβλήματα

Εκτός από το εθνικό εθνόσημο, υπάρχουν και 18 θυρεοί για τα νησιά της χώρας. Παραχωρήθηκαν το 1973, για να παρουσιαστούν στους εορτασμούς για την ανεξαρτησία και απηχούν την πολιτιστική κληρονομιά του καθενός νησιού.
