Ο Φρανσουά Λωράν ντ'Αρλάντ (γαλλικά: François Laurent d'Arlandes, 1742 – 1 Μαΐου 1809) ήταν Γάλλος μαρκήσιος, στρατιωτικός και πρωτοπόρος των αεροστάτων θερμού αέρα. Αυτός και ο Ζαν-Φρανσουά Πιλάτρ ντε Ροζιέ πραγματοποίησαν την πρώτη ελεύθερη επανδρωμένη πτήση με αερόστατο στις 21 Νοεμβρίου 1783, με αερόστατο τύπου Μονγκολφιέ.

Ο ντ'Αρλάντ γεννήθηκε στο Αννερόν του Ντωφινέ. Συνάντησε τον Ζοζέφ Μονγκολφιέ στο κολλέγιο Ιησουιτών του Τουρνόν. Έγινε αξιωματικός του ιππικού στην Γαλλική βασιλική φρουρά.[7]

Η πρώτη δημόσια επίδειξη αεροστάτου από τους αδελφούς Μονγκολφιέ έλαβε χώρα τον Ιούνιο του 1783, και ακολουθήθηκε από ελεύθερη πτήση ενός αρνιού, ενός κόκορα και μιας πάπιας από την μπροστινή αυλή των Ανακτόρων των Βερσαλλιών στις 19 Σεπτεμβρίου. Ο βασιλιάς της Γαλλίας Λουδοβίκος ΙΣΤ΄ αποφάσισε πως στην πρώτη επανδρωμένη πτήση θα επέβαιναν δύο καταδικασμένοι εγκληματίες, αλλά τότε ο ντε Ροζιέ εγγράφηκε στον κατάλογο βοήθειας της Δούκισσας του Πολινιάκ για την υποστήριξη της άποψης πως πως η τιμή για τους πρώτους αεροστατιστές θα έπρεπε να δωθεί σε κάποιον από υψηλότερη τάξη, και ο ντ'Αρλάντ συμφώνησε να τον συνοδεύσει. Ο βασιλιάς πείστηκε να επιτρέψει στον ντ'Αρλάντ και τον ντε Ροζιέ να γίνουν οι πρώτοι κυβερνήτες.[8]

Μετά από πολλές προσδεμένες δοκιμαστικές πτήσεις για την απόκτηση εμπειρίας σχετικά με τον έλεγχο του αεροστάτου, οι ντε Ροζιέ και ντ'Αρλάντ πραγματοποίησαν την πρώτη ελεύθερη πτήση τους με αερόστατο θερμού αέρα τύπου Μονγκολφιέ στις 21 Νοεμβρίου 1783, ξεκινώντας στις 1:54 μ.μ. από τον κήπο του Κάστρου ντε λα Μουέτ στο δάσος της Βουλώνης, παρουσία του βασιλιά. Ακόμη στους θεατές βρισκόταν ο πρέσβυς των ΗΠΑ, Βενιαμίν Φραγκλίνος. Η 25λεπτη πτήση τους κινήθηκε αργά σε απόσταση 9 χιλιομέτρων (5,5 μίλια), προς νοτιοανατολική κατεύθυνση, αποκτώντας υψός πλεύσης 914 μέτρων (3.000 πόδια), προτού προσγειωθούν στο Μπυτ-ω-Κάιγ, τότε προάστιο του Παρισιού. Μετά την πτήση, οι κυβερνήτες ήπιαν σαμπάνια για να γιορτάσουν την επιτυχία, μια παράδοση που συνεχίζεται στους αεροστατιστές μέχρι και σήμερα.[9]

Ο ντ'Αρλάντ πρότεινε πτήση διάσχισης της Μάγχης το 1784, αλλά δεν προέκυψε κάτι από το σχέδιο αυτό.

Απολύθηκε από τον στρατό λόγω ανανδρίας μετά την Γαλλική Επανάσταση, και απεβίωσε στο κάστρο του Σαλετόν κοντά στο Αννερόν. Μερικές πηγές αναφέρουν πως αυτοκτόνησε.[10]
