Η Ελληνική Κοινότητα της Ιρλανδίας (ΕΚΙ) ιδρύθηκε το 1963 στο Δουβλίνο κυρίως από Έλληνες και Κύπριους, και το καταστατικό δημιουργήθηκε το 1964. Ο κύριος σκοπός της ήταν να φέρει σε επαφή τους Έλληνες και Κύπριους που έμεναν στην Ιρλανδία και να διατηρήσουν την Ελληνική τους ταυτότητα.

Η ΕΚΙ είναι από την ίδρυσή της μη κερδοσκοπικός οργανισμός χωρίς πολιτικό και θρησκευτικό προσανατολισμό. Το καταστατικό της έχει τροποποιηθεί τρεις φορές. Η τελευταία τροποποίηση έγινε τον Νοέμβριο του 2018.

Είναι ο μόνος επίσημος φορέας εκπροσώπησης των Ελλήνων και Κυπρίων, είναι αναγνωρισμένος από την Ελληνική και Κυπριακή πολιτεία και συνεργάζεται με τις πρεσβείες της Ελλάδας και Κύπρου στο Δουβλίνο.

Η ΕΚΙ ίδρυσε την πρώτη ελληνορθόδοξη κοινότητα στην Ιρλανδία το 1981 και η πρώτη ελληνορθόδοξη εκκλησία εγκαινιάστηκε το 1994.

Το πρώτο Ελληνικό Σχολείο της ΕΚΙ στο Δουβλίνο ξεκίνησε τη λειτουργία του το 2003 και λειτουργεί υπ την εποπετία του Ελληνικού Υπουργείου Παιδείας και Θρησκευμάτων.

Ελληνικό Σχολείο Ιρλανδίας

Ελληνικό Σχολείο Ιρλανδίας είναι η κύρια εκπαιδευτική δραστηριότητα της Ελληνικής Κοινότητας Ιρλανδίας ΕΚΙ από το 2003.

Χρηματοδοτείται αποκλειστικά από την ΕΚΙ (συνδρομές μελών – δίδακτρα) και υποστηρίζεται από το Ελληνικό Υπουργείο Παιδείας, Έρευνας και Θρησκευμάτων (απόσπαση εκπαιδευτικού, βιβλία)

Το Τμήμα Ελληνικής Γλώσσας και Πολιτισμού αναγνωρίστηκε από το Υπουργείο Παιδείας με την απόφαση Φ816.41/903/146237/Ζ1 στις 21-11-2012

Το ΤΕΓ Ιρλανδίας είναι υπό την εποπτεία του Γραφείου Εκπαίδευση της Ελληνικής πρεσβείας στο Λονδίνο . [1]
