Ruhashya (Kinyarwanda Umurenge wa Ruhashya) ist einer von 14 Sektoren des Distrikts Huye in der Südprovinz von Ruanda.

Geographie

Der Sektor Ruhashya hat eine Fläche von 49,5 km² und setzt sich administrativ aus den sieben Zellen Busheshi, Gatovu, Karama, Mara, Muhororo, Rugogwe und Ruhashya zusammen. Nachbarsektoren von Ruhashya sind im Nordwesten Rwaniro, im Nordosten Rusatira, im Südosten Save, im Süden Mbazi und im Westen Simbi.[1][2][3.1]

Bevölkerung

Nach Stand der Volkszählung von 2022 liegt die Einwohnerzahl bei 24.050. Zehn Jahre zuvor waren es 22.054, was einem jährlichen Bevölkerungszuwachs von 0,9 Prozent zwischen 2012 und 2022 entspricht.[3.2][4][1]

Kultur

Im Sektor befindet sich das Ruhashya Genocide Memorial, eine Gedenkstätte des Völkermords an den Tutsi.

Verkehr

Durch den Osten des Sektors verläuft etwa in Nord-Süd-Richtung die Nationalstraße 1. Eine District Road geht von dieser nach Nordwesten ab.[5][6][3.1]
