Neo-ryddfrydiaeth (damcaniaeth cysylltiadau rhyngwladol)

Damcaniaeth ym maes cysylltiadau rhyngwladol yw neo-ryddfrydiaeth neu sefydliadaeth neo-ryddfrydol a ffurfiwyd yn y 1980au mewn ymateb i neo-realaeth. Gelwir y ddadl academaidd rhwng y neo-ryddfrydwyr a'r neo-realwyr yn y ddadl neo-neo, a serch hynny mae consensws ynglŷn â nifer o agweddau'r ddwy ddamcaniaeth hon ac mae ysgolheigion yn aml yn defnyddio'r naill a'r llall i ddehongli gwahanol bynciau. Er iddi ymsefydlu yn groes i neo-realaeth, yn bennaf drwy anghytuno â damcaniaeth Kenneth Waltz ynghylch cydweithio dan anllywodraeth yn y system ryngwladol, mabwysiadwyd dulliau a nifer o dybiaethau Waltz gan y neo-ryddfrydwyr. Dywed yn aml bod neo-ryddfrydiaeth yn canolbwyntio ar economi wleidyddol ryngwladol, gwleidyddiaeth amgylcheddol fyd-eang, ac hawliau dynol, tra bo neo-realaeth yn ymdrin yn bennaf â diogelwch cenedlaethol a rhyngwladol a materion milwrol.

Ceir gwreiddiau deallusol neo-ryddfrydiaeth yn y ddamcaniaeth ryddfrydol, neu rhyngwladoldeb rhyddfrydol, a oedd ar ei hanterth yn y cyfnod rhwng y rhyfeloedd (1919–39). Dylanwadwyd ar neo-ryddfrydiaeth gan swyddogaetholdeb, a arloeswyd gan David Mitrany, a neo-swyddogaetholdeb, a sefydlwyd gan Ernst B. Haas, a bu gwaith Robert Keohane a Joseph Nye ynghylch rhyngddibyniaeth yn y 1970au hefyd yn bwysig. Keohane oedd un o sefydlwyr y ddamcaniaeth neo-ryddfrydol, a hynny drwy ei lyfr After Hegemony (1984).[1]

Nid yw neo-ryddfrydiaeth yng nghyd-destun damcaniaeth cysylltiadau rhyngwladol yn gyfystyr â'r athrawiaeth economaidd a elwir neoryddfrydiaeth. Am y rheswm honno, defnyddir yr enw sefydliadaeth neo-ryddfrydol yn aml i wahaniaethu yn glir rhwng y ddwy ystyr.
