Clwb pêl-droed o dref Caergybi, Ynys Môn ydy Clwb Pêl-droed Hotspur Caergybi (Saesneg: Holyhead Hotspur Football Club) sy'n chwarae yng Nghynghrair Undebol Huws Gray, sef prif adran gogledd Cymru ac ail reng pyramid pêl-droed cenedlaethol Cymru.

Ffurfiwyd y clwb ym 1990[1] ac maent yn chwarae eu gemau cartref yn y Stadiwm Newydd.

Y dyddiau cynnar

Mae clybiau pêl-droed wedi bodoli yng Nghaergybi ers y 1880au gyda chlybiau Holyhead United a Holyhead Swifts yn aelodau o Gynghrair Ynys Môn pan gafodd ei sefydlu ym 1897-98[2] tra bod Holyhead Railway Institute yn aelodau o Gynghrair Arfordir Gogledd Cymru ym 1898-99[3].

Cafwyd sawl clwb arall o'r dref hefyd gyda Holyhead Alexandra Rovers yn ennill Cynghrair Ynys Môn ym 1921-22[4], Holyhead Locos yn bencampwyr ym 1934-35[5] a Holyhead Liberals yn aelodau o Gynghrair Ynys Môn wedi'r Ail Ryfel Byd[6].

Yr Harbourmen

Roedd Holyhead Town yn aelodau gwreiddiol y North Wales Football Combination ym 1930[7] hyd nes i'r Gynghrair ddod yn Gynghrair Cymru (Y Gogledd) (Saesneg: Welsh League (North))[8] ym 1935-36. Y 1950au a 1960au oedd oes aur yr Harbourmen wrth iddyn nhw ennill Cynghrair Cymru (Y Gogledd) ym 1949-50[9], 1957-58[10], 1963-64[11], 1969-70[12] ond erbyn canol y 1970au, roedd Holyhead Town wedi disgyn yn ôl i Gynghrair Môn.

Clybiau di-ri

Erbyn y 1970au roedd Holyhead United Juniors a Holyhead Athletic wedi ymuno â Holyhead Town yng Nghynghrair Môn[13] gyda Holyhead Mountain Rangers yn dod y pedwaredd clwb o'r dref yn y Gynghrair ar ddechrau'r 1980au[14].

Hanes Hotspur

Ffurfiwyd Hotspur Caergybi ym 1990[1] gyda'r clwb newydd yn cychwyn yng Nghynghrair Môn ar gyfer tymor 1990-91[15]. Llwyddodd Hotspur i ennill y gynghrair ym 1994-95 a 1995-96 a sicrhau dyrchafiad i Gynghrair Gwynedd[16][17]. Erbyn 1998-99 roedd Hotspur wedi uno gyda'r pedwar clwb arall yn y dref ac wedi sicrhau dyrchafiad i Gynghrair Undebol Huws Gray[1][18].
