দুর্গা মন্দির (হিন্দি : दुर्गा मंदिर), এটি দুর্গা কুন্ড মন্দির এবং দুর্গা মন্দির নামেও পরিচিত, এটি পবিত্র বারাণসীর অন্যতম বিখ্যাত মন্দির। হিন্দু ধর্মে এই মন্দিরটির অত্যন্ত ধর্মীয় গুরুত্ব রয়েছে এবং এটি মা দুর্গার উদ্দেশ্যে উত্সর্গীকৃত। দুর্গা মন্দিরটি ১৮ শতকে নাটোরের রানী ভবানী নির্মাণ করেছিলেন। [১]

ইতিহাস

দুর্গা মন্দির ১৮ শতকে বাংলা মহারানী নাটোরের রানী ভবানীর দ্বারা নির্মাণ করা হয়েছিল। মন্দিরটি দেবী দুর্গার উদ্দেশ্যে উত্সর্গীকৃত। মন্দিরের পাশেই একটি কুন্ড (পুকুর) রয়েছে যা আগে গঙ্গা নদীর সাথে সংযুক্ত ছিল। এটা বিশ্বাস করা হয় যে দেবীর বিদ্যমান আইকনটি কোনও মানুষই তৈরি করেনি, বরং মন্দিরে তার নিজেই উপস্থিত হয়েছিল । [২][৩]

আধ্যায়া (অধ্যায়) ২৩ দেবী-ভাগবত পুরাণ, এই মন্দির এর উৎপত্তি ব্যাখ্যা করা হয়। পাঠ্য অনুসারে, কাশী নরেশ (বারাণসীর রাজা) তাঁর মেয়ে শশীকালার বিয়ের জন্য স্বয়ম্বর ডাকেন। রাজা পরে জানতে পেরেছিলেন যে রাজকন্যা ভানভাসী রাজকুমার সুদর্শনের প্রেমে পড়েছিল । কাজেই কাশী নরেশ তার কন্যাকে রাজপুত্রের সাথে গোপনে বিয়ে দিয়েছিলেন। অন্যান্য রাজারা (যাকে স্বয়ম্বরের জন্য আমন্ত্রিত করা হয়েছিল) বিয়ের বিষয়টি জানতে পেরে তারা রেগে গিয়ে কাশী নরেশের সাথে যুদ্ধে নামেন। এরপরে সুদর্শন দুর্গাকে প্রার্থনা করলেন, যিনি সিংহের উপরে এসে কাশী নরেশ এবং সুদর্শনের জন্য যুদ্ধ করেছিলেন। যুদ্ধের পরে কাশী নরেশ বারাণসীর সুরক্ষার জন্য দুর্গার কাছে আবেদন করেছিলেন এবং এই বিশ্বাসের সাথেই এই মন্দিরটি নির্মিত হয়েছিল। [১]

নির্মাণ

দুর্গা মন্দির ১৮ শতকে (নির্মাণ সঠিক তারিখ জানা যায় না) একটি করে নির্মাণ করা হয়েছিল হিন্দু বাংলা রানী - নাটোরের রানী ভবানীর হাতে। (বাঙালি রানী)। মন্দিরটি উত্তর ভারতীয় নাগারা স্থাপত্যশৈলীতে নির্মিত হয়েছিল। শক্তি ও শক্তির দেবী দুর্গার কেন্দ্রীয় আইকনটির রং মেলে মন্দিরটি শুকরের সাথে লাল রঙ করা হয়। মন্দিরের অভ্যন্তরে প্রচুর বিস্তৃত খোদাই করা এবং খোদাই করা পাথর পাওয়া যায়। মন্দিরটি অনেকগুলি ছোট ছোট শিখার সমন্বয়ে গঠিত। [২]

অবস্থান

দুর্গা মন্দিরটি সঙ্কট মোচন রাস্তায় অবস্থিত, দুর্গা কুন্ডের সংলগ্ন, তুলসী মনস মন্দিরের ২৫০ মিটার উত্তরে, সংকট মোচন মন্দিরের ৭০০ মিটার উত্তর-পূর্বে এবং বনরস হিন্দু বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় থেকে ১.৩ কিলোমিটার উত্তরে। [৪]
