হিজড়া (অনুবাদের জন্য, দেখুন ^{[n ১]}) দক্ষিণ এশিয়ায় ব্যবহৃত একটি পরিভাষা - বিশেষ করে, ভারতের রূপান্তরকামী বা রূপান্তরিত লিঙ্গের নারীদের ( বুঝিয়ে থাকে।^[১][২] ভারতের বিভিন্ন স্থানে, রূপান্তরিত লিঙ্গের হিজড়ারা আরাভানি, আরুভানি এবং জাগাপ্পা নামেও পরিচিত।^[৩]

হিজড়া কি

হিজড়া বলতে আন্তঃলিঙ্গ ব্যক্তিবর্গকেও বোঝানো হয়, অর্থাৎ চিকিৎসা বিজ্ঞানের ভাষায় ক্রোমোজোমের ত্রুটির কারণে জন্মগত যৌন প্রতিবন্ধী ব্যক্তি, যাদের জন্মপরবর্তী লিঙ্গ নির্ধারণে জটিলতা দেখা দেয়।

শাব্দিক অর্থ

সমাজকর্মী ও রূপান্তরিত লিঙ্গের সম্প্রদায়ের সদস্যরা তাদেরকে সাধারণত খাওয়াজা সিরা (উর্দু: خواجہ سرا‎‎) নামে চিহ্নিত করে এবং এসকল ব্যক্তিবর্গকে রূপান্তরকামী ব্যক্তি, রূপান্তরিত লিঙ্গের ব্যক্তি (খুসরা), ক্রস-ড্রেসার বা আন্তঃলিঙ্গীয় পোশাকধারী (জেনানা) বা খোঁজা (নরবান) বলে ডেকে থাকে।^[৪][৫]

"হিজড়া" শব্দটি একটি উর্দু শব্দ, যা সেমেটিক আরবি ধাতুমূল হিজর থেকে "গোত্র হতে পরিত্যাক্ত" অর্থে এসেছে।^[৬] এবং পরবর্তীতে তা হিন্দি ভাষায় বিদেশী শব্দ হিসেবে প্রবেশ করেছে। শব্দটির ভারতীয় ব্যবহারকে প্রথাগতভাবে ইংরেজিতে "ইউনাক" (Eunuch, অর্থঃ খোজা) বা "হারমাফ্রোডাইট" (hermaphrodite, অর্থঃ উভলিঙ্গ) হিসেবে অনুবাদ করা হয়, যেখানে "পুং জননাঙ্গের অনুপস্থিতি হল উক্ত সংজ্ঞার কেন্দ্রীয় বিষয়বস্ত।"^[৭]

বসবাস

দক্ষিণ এশিয়ায়, বহু হিজড়া সুসংজ্ঞায়িত ও সংবদ্ধ সর্ব-হিজড়া সম্প্রদায়ে বসবাস করে, যা একজন গুরুর মাধ্যমে পরিচালিত হয়।^[৮][৯] এই সম্প্রদায়গুলো অসহায় দরিদ্র, পরিত্যাক্ত অথবা পরিবার থেকে পালিয়ে আসা বালকদের দত্তক নেয়ার মাধ্যমে প্রজন্ম হতে প্রজন্মান্তরে নিজেদের টিকিয়ে রেখেছে।^[১০] এদের মধ্যে অনেকেই জীবিকার তাগিদে যৌনকর্মী হিসেবে কাজ করে।^[১১]

বর্ণনা

সাধারণ মানুষের মত ওদের গলার স্বর নয়। মহিলাদের মত করে কথা বলে ওরা। গলার স্বর অনেকটা নারী পুরুষের মিশ্র ভঙ্গিতে। দুহাতে তালি, কোমড় দোলোনোসহ অদ্ভুত চালচলন পথিককে দৃষ্টি কাড়ে।

যাই হোক, সাধারণত অধিকাংশ হিজড়াই স্বাভাবিক পুরুষের শারীরিক বৈশিষ্ট্য নিয়ে জন্মগ্রহণকারী, এদের মধ্যে আন্তঃলিঙ্গ বৈচিত্র্য নিয়ে জন্মানো সদস্য খুবই অল্পসংখ্যক।^[১২] কিছু হিজড়া সম্প্রদায়ে নতুন সদস্যদের অন্তর্ভুক্ত করার পূর্বে তাদেরকে "নির্বাণ" নামক এক আচার পালন করতে হয়, যেখানে শিশ্ন, শুক্রথলি এবং শুক্রাশয়দ্বয় অপসারণ করা হয়।^[১১]

স্বীকৃতি

রাষ্ট্রীয় স্বীকৃতি

পাকিস্তান ও বাংলাদেশে, হিজড়াগণ সরকার কর্তৃক আইনগতভাবে তৃতীয় লিঙ্গ হিসেবে স্বীকৃত,^{[১৩][১৪]} যারা সম্পূর্ণরূপে পুরুষ বা নারী কোনটাই নয়। ভারতেও, রূপান্তরিত লিঙ্গের ব্যক্তিবর্গকে তৃতীয় লিঙ্গের স্বীকৃতি দেয়া হয়েছে সমাজ কর্তৃক পরিত্যাজ্য হওয়া সত্ত্বেও তাদের অধিকারকে আইনগতভাবে সুরক্ষিত করা হয়েছে।

অন্যান্য স্বীকৃতি

বিংশ শতাব্দীর শেষের দিকে, কিছু হিজড়া সমাজকর্মী ও পশ্চিমা বেসরকারি সংগঠন (এনজিও) হিজড়াদের নারী বা পুরুষ পরিচয়ের পরিবর্তে তৃতীয় লিঙ্গ হিসেবে আইনগত স্বীকৃতির জন্য লবিং করে।^[১৫] বাংলাদেশে হিজড়াগণ সফলভাবে এই স্বীকৃতি লাভ করেছে এবং শিক্ষাক্ষেত্রে প্রাধিকার অর্জনের অধিকার লাভ করেছে।^{[১৬][১৭]} ভারতে, ২০১৪ সালের এপ্রিলে সুপ্রিম কোর্ট হিজড়া ও রূপান্তরিত লিঙ্গের ব্যক্তিবর্গকে একটি তৃতীয় লিঙ্গ হিসেবে আইনি স্বীকৃতি প্রদান করে।^{[১৮][১৯][২০]}

নেপাল, পাকিস্তান, ভারত এবং বাংলাদেশ আইনগতভাবে পাসপোর্ট এবং অন্যান্য দাপ্তরিক কাগজপত্রে লিঙ্গ অন্তর্ভুক্তির ক্ষেত্রে একটি তৃতীয় লিঙ্গের অস্তিত্বকে স্বীকৃতি দিয়েছে।^[২১]

উপার্জন

হিজড়ারা উপার্জন করে রাস্তা-ঘাটে মানুষদের কাছে হাত পেতে কিংবা ফুল বিক্রি করে।ঢাকা শহরে জ্যাম পড়লে হিজড়ারা কোম্রে হাত দিয়ে তালি বাজাতে বাজাতে এসে ফুল বিক্রি করে তাদের গুরু মার কাছে টাকা দেন।
