Бе́раст[1][2], Вяз малы, Вяз грабалісты, Карагач[3], Вяз ліставаты (Ulmus minor ці Ulmus foliacea) — лістападнае дрэва ці куст роду Вяз (Ulmus) сямейства Вязавыя (Ulmaceae).

Батанічнае апісанне

Дрэва вышынёй 10—30 (8—25[4]) м. Кара цёмна-шэрая, глыбока патрэсканая. Крона шырокацыліндрычная, густая. Лісце нераўнабокае, на доўгіх чаранках, цвёрдае, пілаватае, знізу на жылках пакрытае чырвонымі кропкавымі залозкамі. Кветкі ў густых пучках. Плод — крылатка.

Арэал і экалогія

Распаўсюджаны у Еўропе, Міжземнамор’і, на Каўказе, у Сярэдняй Азіі[4]. На тэрыторыі Беларусі бераст трапляецца ў Брэсцкай, Гродзенскай, Гомельскай абласцях. Расце ў мяшаных і шыракалістых лясах. Цвіце ў красавіку. Народныя назвы: лём, ільмак.

Святлолюбівая, засухаўстойлівая расліна. Поліморфны від[4]. Лёгка ўтварае гібрыды з іншымі відамі роду[4].

Кара бераста багатая дубільнымі і фарбавальнымі рэчывамі. Расліна прыдатная для замацавання схілаў. Вырошчваецца ў якасці дэкаратыўнага дрэва ў садах і парках. Драўніна (асабліва наплывы) выкарыстоўваецца ў сталярнай справе[4].
