La provincia d'Amberes (neerlandés: Antwerpen, francés: Anvers) ye una de los cinco provincies de Flandes y una de les diez provincies de Bélxica. Ta asitiada al este de la provincia de Flandes Oriental, al norte de la provincia de Brabante flamencu y al oeste de la provincia de Limburgu. Amberes ye la única provincia de Flandes que nun ye axacente a una provincia valona.

El topónimu "Antwerp" referir a la capital d'esta provincia, la ciudá d'Amberes, que tamién ye la mayor ciudá de la provincia y de la rexón flamenca.

Historia

La provincia actual of Amberes yera'l vieyu departamentu de Deux-Nèthes, creáu en 1795 mientres el Primer Imperiu francés na parte norte del Ducáu de Brabante. Depués de la derrota de Napoleón, el territoriu pasó a ser parte del Reinu Xuníu de los Países Baxos col nome de provincia d'Amberes.

La provincia d'Amberes ta arrodiada por Brabante Septentrional (una provincia de los Países Baxos) al norte y poles provincies belgues de Flandes Oriental, Brabante flamencu y Limbugo.

La provincia tien una superficie total de 2867 km² lo cual correspuende a 21,15% de Flandes y a 9,38% de Bélxica. La so altitú media ye de 14 metros sobre'l nivel del mar.[1]

Con una población al 1 de xineru de 2014 de 1 802 719,[2] la so densidá poblacional ye de 628,8 persones/km²

El puntu más al norte de la provincia (y tamién de Bélxica) ta nel pobláu Meersel-Dreef (coordenaes: 51°30′N 4°46′E / 51.500°N 4.767°E / 51.500; 4.767) del conceyu Hoogstraten.

El puntu más altu ye Beerzelberg (51,6 m) nel conceyu Putte (coordenaes: 51°03′N 4°38′E / 51.050°N 4.633°E / 51.050; 4.633) ente que'l puntu más baxu (4 m) queda nel valle del ríu Grote Nete cerca de Lier.

El principal ríu nes provincies ye'l ríu Escaldia (neerlandés: Schelde, francés: Escaut). Otros ríos son Grote Nete, Kleine Nete.
