Note that many of the phosphodiesterase inhibitors listed here are not highly selective, most of them inhibit at least two or three different PDE subtypes to some extent. Where possible they have been placed in the category which reflects the PDE subtype they inhibit most effectively, but readers should not assume that this is the only subtype that is inhibited in vivo.
