Khosrowshah District (Persian: بخش خسروشاه) is in Tabriz County, East Azerbaijan province, Iran. Its capital is the city of Khosrowshah.^[3]

Etymology

The district got its name from Khusrau Shah, king of the Justanids during the 10th century. The words "Khosrow" and "Shah" are both Persian words that mean "king."^{[citation needed]}

History

After the 2016 National Census, the villages of Esfahlan and Lahijan were elevated to city status.^[4]

Demographics

Population

At the time of the 2006 census, the district's population was 36,002 in 9,276 households.^[5] The following census in 2011 counted 38,226 people in 11,279 households.^[6] The 2016 census measured the population of the district as 48,663 inhabitants in 15,054 households.^[2]
