She originated Serbian artistic caricature [citation needed] and left around 500 humorous portraits of contemporaries from the social and cultural scene in Belgrade.[1]
Her husband was an Impressionist painter, Rista Vukanović (born 3 April 1873, Bugovina, near Trebinje, Herzegovina - died 7 January 1918, Paris), recognized as one of the artists responsible for taking Serbian art into new directions. He studied at St Petersburg and Munich, later teaching at various institutions.[3]
