On 13 December 2020, Shakhtar's game against Inhulets Petrove scheduled for later in the day was called off due to the poor condition of the pitch in Kropyvnytskyi.[3] Subsequently, the match was awarded as a 3–0 victory to Shakhtar.[4]
On 12 May, three days after the end of the season, Shakhtar Donetsk announced that manager Luís Castro would be leaving the club after two-years in charge.[7]
