النحام الكبير

النُّحَام الأكبر[6] أو النحام الكبير[7] (الاسم العلمي: Phoenicopterus roseus) (بالإنجليزية: Greater Flamingo)‏، هو طائر ينتمي إلى نحام وردي (فصيلة: Phoenicopteridae)، طائر وردي اللون وله أسماء عديدة منها: النحام الكبير، فنتير (يطلق عليه هذا الاسم في المنطقة الشرقية من السعودية).

يمكن لكل من يشاهد طائر النحام الأكبر أن يتعرف عليه في الحال وكثيراً ما يشاهد هذا الطائر على مقربة من السواحل العمانية. ولسوء الحظ تندر مشاهدة فصيلة النحام ذي الريش الوردي رائع الجمال لأنه لا يتكاثر في السلطنة. ومعظم طيور هذه الفصيلة التي يمكن أن تشاهد في حالات نادرة تكون من صغار النحام المهاجرة من الشمال. ويبدو هذا الطائر غريباً أثناء طيرانه إذ أنه يبقي رقبته ممدودة إلى الأمام ويحافظ على توازنه عن طريق ساقية الطويلتين.

وجوده في السعودية

يطلق عليه في المنطقة الشرقية من السعودية بـ (فنتير) وهو طائر يتميز بسيقان طويلة ورقبة طويلة، ويكسو جسم البالغ منها ريش أبيض ووردي أما ريش القوادم والجناحين فلونها أسود مما يعطيها جمالا مميزا خاصة عند الطيران، ومنقاره كبير ومعكف للأسفل ولون المنقار أسود من الأسفل، وحجم الذكر أكبر من الأنثى، ووفي موسم التزاوج يظهر لون أصفر أسفل رقبة الطيور البالغة. وتعيش في السعودية على سواحل الخليج العربي وجزر السعودية في الخليج. ويكون تكاثرها في السعودية من أبريل إلى أغسطس. وتعتبر زائر شتوي للسعودية يصل في فترة الخريف وفي باقي الفصول الأخرى تبقى مجموعات صغيرة.
