Wirun adalah sebuah desa di Kecamatan Mojolaban, Kabupaten Sukoharjo, Provinsi Jawa Tengah, Indonesia.

Wilayah Desa Wirun memiliki banyak objek wisata sehingga menjadi salah satu kawasan pariwisata di Kabupaten Sukoharjo.[2] Lokasi Desa Wirun dapat dicapai dari arah Kota Surakarta dan Kabupaten Karanganyar.

Pembagian wilayah

Desa Wirun terdiri menjadi tujuh dukuh. Nama-nama dukuhnya yaitu Gendengan, Kanggungan, Mertan, Mojosari, Ngambak Kalang, Pabrik dan Wirun.[3]

Ekonomi

Penduduk di Desa Wirun bekerja sebagai pengrajin gamelan.[2][4][5] Selain gamelan, ada juga penduduk Desa Wirun yang bekerja sebagai pengrajin kain jumputan, wayang kertas, keris, genteng, dan batik kayu. Ada juga penduduk Desa Wirun yang bekerja yang mengadakan budidaya tanaman bonsai.[6]Penduduk Desa Wirun mulai merintis industri kerajinan gamelan sejak tahun 1956. Industri kerajinan gamelan di Desa Wirun pertama kali dirintis oleh Reso Wiguno.[2]

Kesenian

Suguhan kesenian lokal seperti kethoprak, jathilan, dan karawitan menjadi daya tarik tersendiri untuk menyambut para turis asing yang berwisata ke Desa Wirun.[2] Di samping itu, para wisatawan yang didominasi warga negara Belanda biasanya datang untuk menetap selama satu hingga dua hari untuk belajar tentang pembuatan kerajinan seperti gamelan dan wayang di rumah-rumah penduduk. Karena lokasinya yang relatif cukup jauh dari kawasan Kota Solo, rumah penduduk setempat pun banyak yang disewakan bagi wisatawan domestik ataupun mancanegara pada masa-masa ramai kunjungan wisatawan. Penjualan gamelan menjadi potensi yang diunggulkan karena pemasarannya yang mencapai luar negeri.[2][5][7]
