USS Houston adalah sebuah kapal penjelajah kelas Northampton. Ia diluncurkan dari galangan kapal pada tanggal 7 September 1929. Pada tahun 1933, kapal ini pernah membawa presiden terpilih Amerika Serikat Franklin Delano Roosevelt berlayar sejauh 19.308 km sehingga dijuluki "Little Flagship of the Fleet" (Kapal bendera kecil dari armada). Ketika Perang Pasifik pecah, Houston merupakan kapal bendera Armada Asia untuk Amerika Serikat. Dalam pertempuran di Laut Bali, kapal ini terkena serangan bom pesawat terbang Jepang, yang membuat turet meriam nomor tiganya rusak. Ia berkali—kali dikabarkan tenggelam oleh propaganda Jepang selama pertempuran di perairan Hindia Belanda, kapal ini dijuluki oleh awaknya sebagai "Galloping Ghost of the Java Coast" (Hantu Gentayangan di Perairan Jawa). Lolos dalam Pertempuran di Laut Jawa, kariernya sebagai hantu gentayangan berakhir saat Houston disergap dan ditenggelamkan oleh Angkatan Laut Kekaisaran Jepang dalam Pertempuran Selat Sunda pada tahun 1942.

Pada 2017, miniatur Houston menjadi bagian dari hibah pemerintah Amerika Serikat kepada Museum Bahari di Jakarta.^[1] Naasnya, pada tahun 2018, api melahap Museum Bahari beserta koleksinya, termasuk miniatur Houston.^[2]^[3]
