Surakarta (permainan)

Surakarta adalah permainan strategi asal Indonesia untuk dua pemain. Sebutan ini berasal dari sebuah kota bernama Surakarta di Jawa Tengah.

Permainan ini pertama kali dibukukan di Prancis pada tahun 1970 dengan nama "Surakarta".^[1] Permainan ini disebut "Roundabouts" oleh Sid Sackson dalam buku berjudul The Book of Classic Board Games.^[2]

Permainan ini mirip dengan catur, tapi menggunakan 12 pion. Jalannya pion tersebut sama dengan raja dalam catur. Namun untuk bisa memakan musuhnya, pion itu harus memutar. Arena permainan tersebut mirip dengan Jembatan Semanggi di Jakarta jika dilihat dari atas. Pada tanggal 6 November 2009, seorang mahasiswa Universitas Surabaya bernama Dwi Purnomo Adi membuat permainan ini dalam bentuk permainan komputer.^[3]
