Pohon kehidupan

Pohon kehidupan atau dikenal dengan sebutan kayon atau gunungan dalam pewayangan.

Pohon kehidupan adalah mitos (miteme) atau arketip yang tersebar luas dalam mitologi-mitologi dunia, umumnya berkaitan dengan konsep pohon keramat.[1] Berbeda dengan pohon pengetahuan yang menjembatani surga dan dunia bawah, pohon kehidupan menghubungkan segala bentuk ciptaan. Akan tetapi keduanya merupakan wujud dari pohon dunia ataupun pohon kosmik,[2] dan digambarkan dalam berbagai agama dan aliran filsafat sebagai pohon yang sama.[3]

Budaya populer

Seniman simbolis asal Austria, Gustav Klimt, melukiskan pohon kehidupan versinya dalam karya lukisan, The Tree of Life, Stoclet Frieze.
