Otto Soemarwoto

Prof. Dr. Ir. Otto Soemarwoto (19 Februari 1926 – 1 April 2008) adalah seorang pakar ekologi Indonesia. Lulusan Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) dengan gelar dalam bidang pertanian (1954) dan Universitas California di Berkeley (1960), ia kemudian menjadi guru besar termuda di UGM saat mulai menjabat pada tahun 1960. Dari 1964-1972, ia menjadi Direktur Lembaga Biologi Nasional. Tahun 1972, ia merintis Pusat Penelitian Sumber Daya Alam dan Lingkungan dan bekerja di lembaga tersebut dari 1972 hingga 1992 (?). Selain itu, ia juga menjabat sebagai Direktur Lembaga Ekologi Nasional dari tahun 1972 hingga 1991. Pada tahun 1993, ia bergabung dengan Business Council for Sustainable Development yang diketuai Bob Hasan. Pada tahun yang sama ia menerima gelar Doktor Honoris Causa dari Universitas Pertanian Wageningen (Belanda). Ia kemudian menjabat sebagai Guru Besar (Emeritus) Lingkungan Universitas Padjadjaran di Bandung.

Otto Soemarwoto meninggal dunia pada tanggal 1 April 2008 karena sakit di Rumah Sakit Sentosa, Bandung.

Soemarwoto menerima gelar Bintang Mahaputra Utama pada tahun 1981. Ia mempunyai seorang istri dan empat orang anak.
