Metusalah dalam kitab Kejadian dari Kitab Suci Ibrani dan Alkitab, adalah salah satu anak dari Henokh dan isterinya yang tidak disebutkan namanya.[1] Nama Metusalah disebut tujuh kali dalam Alkitab, lima kalinya di kitab Kejadian, sekali di I Tawarikh dan sekali di dalam kitab Lukas. Metusalah adalah orang yang berumur terpanjang yang tercatat di dalam Alkitab (meninggal saat berusia 969 tahun)[2]

Ia mempunyai seorang anak yang bernama Lamekh pada usia 187 tahun[3] dan hidup hingga mencapai usia 969 tahun, 1.656 tahun setelah Adam.[1] Tahun kematian Metusalah bertepatan dengan tahun terjadinya Air Bah pada zaman Nuh (Kejadian 5:25–27).[1] Dia hidup semasa dengan Adam selama 243 tahun, dengan Henokh selama 300 tahun, dan dengan Nuh selama 600 tahun.[1]

Pada zaman Metusalah disebutkan bahwa manusia mulai memanggil nama YAHWEH[4]

Melalui keturunan Metusalah dilahirkanlah Nuh, Abraham, Daud, hingga akhirnya menurunkan Yesus.[5][6]

Etimologi

Secara harfiah Kata Metusalah adalah gabungan dari dua kata "mat" yang berarti "manusia" dan selah yang berarti "lembing", jadi namanya dapat berarti "manusia lembing". Menurut akarnya, Metusalah terdiri dari kata mut berarti "mati" atau "membunuh" dan salah berarti "mengusir" jika digabungkan dapat berarti 'ketika dia mati, dunia berakhir'[1]
