Mansoura (bahasa Arab: المنصورة al-Manṣūra, IPA: [el.mɑnˈsˤuːɾɑ], aksen yang belum diurbanisasi: [el.mænˈsˤuːɾe]) adalah sebuah kota di Mesir dengan penduduk sejumlah 480,494. Kota tersebut merupakan ibu kota dari Kegubernuran Dakahlia.

Etimologi

Mansoura dalam bahasa Arab artinya "kemenangan". Kota tersebut mengambil nama dari kemenangan Mesir atas Louis IX dari Prancis pada Perang Salib Ketujuh.

Sejarah

Mansoura didirikan pada 1219 oleh al-Kamil dari dinasti Ayyubiyyah. Setelah pasukan Mesir mengalahkan Pasukan Salib pada Perang Salib Keenam, kota tersebut dinamai Mansoura (artinya "Kemenangan").

Universitas Mansoura

Universitas Mansoura didirikan pada 1962, awalnya sebagai cabang dari Universitas Kairo.[2] Pusat Urologi dan Nefrologi dari Universitas Mansoura yang didirikan oleh Prof Mohammed Ghonem dianggap menjadi pusat ginjal terbaik di Timur Tengah dan Afrika.[3]

Mansoura memiliki sebuah stadion olahraga (Stadion Mansoura) yang merupakan rumah dari tim sepak bola-nya.[4]
