LCM-8

LCM-8 ("Mike Boat") adalah kapal sungai dan kapal pendarat mekanis yang digunakan oleh Angkatan Laut dan Angkatan Darat Amerika Serikat selama Perang Vietnam dan operasi selanjutnya. Mereka saat ini digunakan oleh pemerintah dan organisasi swasta di seluruh dunia. Singkatan singkatan dari "Landing Craft Mechanized, Mark 8". (Istilah "Mike Boat" mengacu pada alfabet fonetik militer, LCM menjadi "Lima Charlie Mike".)[1][2]

Kapal itu berbobot 135.000 pound (61.200 kg) dan memiliki empat awak: perwira kecil Boatswain's Mate, perwira rendahan Engineman, pemadam kebakaran non-peringkat, dan pelaut. Spesifikasi Angkatan Darat AS membutuhkan enam awak selama operasi 24 jam: dua pengemudi, dua pelaut, dan dua awak mesin. LCM-8 dibangun dari baja yang dilas dan ditenagai oleh empat mesin diesel 6-71 atau dua 12V71, baling-baling kembar, dan kemudi. Kapal dapat membawa 60 ton kargo pendek. Ini dirancang oleh Marinette Marine Corp. Ini memiliki jangkauan 190 mil pada 9 knot dengan muatan penuh.
