Jaundis, juga dikenal dengan nama ikterus atau penyakit kuning, adalah pigmentasi kekuningan atau kehijauan pada kulit dan sklera (bagian putih pada mata) yang disebabkan oleh tingginya kadar bilirubin.[1][5] Penyakit ini sering dikaitkan dengan kegatalan.[2] Feses mungkin berwarna pucat dan urin berwarna gelap.[3] Biasanya konsentrasi bilirubin pada darah melebihi 2–3 mg/dL untuk menimbulkan warna kuning yang kasatmata. Jaundis berasal dari Bahasa Prancis yaitu jaune, yang berarti kuning. Cairan empedu masuk ke dalam darah, sehingga tubuh tampak kekuningan
