Ibnu Sa'ad (bahasa Arab: ابن سَعْد; lahir 168 H / 784 M — meninggal 230 H / 845 M)[1] memiliki nama lengkap Abu Abdullah Muhammad bin Sa'ad bin Mani' al-Bashri al-Hasyimi[2] merupakan salah seorang sejarawan Islam awal. Ia menulis kitab Ath-Thabaqat al-Kabir.[3] Ibnu Sa'ad pernah menemani sejarawan Al-Waqidi selama beberapa waktu serta menjadi juru tulisnya, dengan demikian ia dikenal sebagai Juru Tulis Al-Waqidi (كاتب الواقدي, Katib Al-Waqidi).[1]

Ibnu Sa'ad lahir di Bashrah,[1] lalu tinggal di Baghdad, oleh karena itu nisbahnya masing-masing dikenal sebagai al-Bashri dan al-Baghdadi. Ia meninggal pada usia 62 tahun di Baghdad dan dimakamkan di pemakaman gerbang Suriah.[4]
