Hirtella physophora adalah spesies tumbuhan dalam keluarga Chrysobalanaceae. Tumbuhan ini berupa pohon yang berasal dari Amerika Selatan tropis bagian utara, termasuk Brasil bagian utara, Kolombia, Guyana, Peru, dan Venezuela,[2] di mana ia tumbuh di hutan hujan tropis dataran rendah.[1] Tumbuhan ini membentuk asosiasi dengan spesies semut Allomerus decemarticulatus. Semut-semut tersebut hidup di dalam silinder berongga menyerupai sarang lebah yang mereka tempelkan pada batang tumbuhan tersebut.[3] Tumbuhan ini hampir selalu berasosiasi dengan semut-semut tersebut.[4]
