Herman Darmo

Herman Darmo lahir di Padang,Sumatera Barat, 11 Juni 1954. Ia adalah pemimpin proyek (pimpro) Kompas Gramedia (KKG). Ia mulai kepincut dunia jurnalistik sejak kuliah S1 di Fakultas Ilmu Sosial dan Politik (FISIP) Universitas Indonesia, Jakarta pada 1977. Setelah lulus kuliah, Pada tahun 1981 Herman Darmo sempat bekerja sebagai peneliti di Direktorat Analisis Sistem, Badan Pengkajian dan Penerapan Teknolo(gi BPPT). Tiga tahun kemudian ia hijrah ke surat kabar Kompas, tak lama di posisi itu, ia kembali ke jurnalistik. Pada tahun 1987 ia beralih profesi dari Kepala Dokumentasi Perpustakaan menjadi Reporter Harian Kompas.[1]

Pada tahun 1987 kompas mulai mengembangkan sayap ke daerah-daerah di Indonesia. Ia terpilih dalam tim persiapan penerbitan koran-koran di daerah tersebut. Pada saat itu ia ditunjuk sebagai Wakil Pemimpin Proyeksi sekaligus Pemimpin Proyeksi Penerbitan Koran Sriwijaya Post di Palembang, Sumatera Selatan. Setahun kemudian, ia di percaya sebagai Pemimpin Proyeksi Penerbitan Serambi Indonesia di Banda Aceh. Pada tahun 1989, ia berlanjut ke Surabaya, Jawa Timur untuk melahirkan Harian Surya.[1]

Selanjutnya pada tahun 2000 an, ia dan tim melahirkan koran Metro Bandung di Kota Bandung, Jawa Barat yang kemudian beralih nama menjadi Tribun Jabar pada tahun 2005. Sejak tahun 1999, ia diberi amanah sebagai Direktur Kelompok Koran Daerah atau dikenal sebagai persda (Pers Daerah) Kompas Gramedia. Bukan hanya platform cetak, ia juga mengembangkan platform digital melalui portal payung bernama Tribunnews.com yang meluncur pada tahun 2010.Tribunnews.com menjadi news portal nomor satu di Indonesia versi Alex.com. Pada tahun 2016, ia memutuskan untuk memusatkan semua kegiatan digital di Kota Solo, Jawa Tengah. Di kota itu lahir portal baru antara lain TribunSolo.com, TribunStyle.com, Tribun Wow.com, TribunVideo.com, dan TribunJualbeli.com. Ia merangkai seluruh wilayah Indonesia dengan brand Tribun yang di kenal luas hingga saat ini.[1]
