"Gorgeous" adalah sebuah lagu karya penyanyi-penulis lagu asal Amerika Serikat Taylor Swift untuk album keenamnya Reputation. Lagu ini dirilis tanggal 20 Oktober 2017 sebagai sebuah singel promosional dari album "Reputation".[1]

Latar Belakang dan Perilisan

Setelah Swift mengadakan sebuah pesta rahasia pada tanggal 13 Oktober 2017 dimana dia memutarkan album keenamnya Reputation untuk seratus penggemarnya dari seluruh dunia,[2][3] dia mengumumkan rilisnya sebuah lagu berjudul "Gorgeous" lewat akun Instagram-nya pada tanggal 19 Oktober. Ia memperdengarkan sedikit bagian lagu ini, menampilkan "sebuah suara bayi mengatakan "gorgeous" sebelum terdengar intro lagu yang bernuansa electropop", sebagaimana digambarkan oleh Billboard.[4][5] Kemudian lagu ini dirilis keesokan harinya sebagai singel promosional.[6] Pada hari yang sama, sebuah video lirik dirilis pula.[7]

Proses Mengarang

Swift ikut menulis "Gorgeous" bersama produsernya Max Martin dan Shellback.[8] Lagu ini digambarkan sebagai sebuah lagu "pop yang ramah dengan radio". Secara lirik, lagu ini menggambarkan "pengejaran seorang cinta bunga yang menjengkelkan", yang Swift gambarkan sebagai seseorang yang "sangat menarik".[1] Hugh McIntyre dari Forbes mengkarakterisasikan produksi lagu ini sebagai "secara serentak merupakan drum 808 dasar dan mencoba sesuatu yang mendorong electropop ke dalam wilayah yang lebih menarik dari yang biasanya Top 40 lakukan."[9] Maeve McDermott dari USA Today menyamai chorus lagu ini dengan lagu Katy Perry.[10] Menurut Elle, pria yang disebutkan dalam lagu ini adalah aktor Inggris Joe Alwyn, yang merupakan pacar Swift saat ini.[11] Lagu ini dikarang dalam kunci C mayor dengan tempo ketukan 92 kali per menit, serta vokal Swift menjangkau G3 to C5.[12]
