Pencipta lagu

Pencipta lagu^[1]^[2]^[3] atau penulis lagu (bahasa inggris: Songwriter) ialah musisi yang membuat komposisi musik dan menulis lirik untuk sebuah lagu. Pencipta lagu dapat juga disebut komponis, karena awalnya sebuah lagu digubah dengan cara menuliskan notasinya, contohnya pada genre musik klasik. Seorang pencipta lagu yang cenderung menulis lirik sering kali disebut lirikus.

Profesi pencipta lagu lebih dikenal dengan tugas menciptakan lagu untuk penyanyi atau musikus lain, namun tidak sedikit pencipta lagu yang menyanyikan lagu yang ditulisnya sendiri. Dalam industri musik, penulis lagu biasanya bekerjasama dengan penerbit musik, terutama dalam pengelolaan hak atas komposisi mereka yang digunakan secara komersial oleh musikus lain.
