Gedik

Gedik adalah alat pertanian yang digunakan untuk perontokan, proses memisahkan biji-bijian dari sekamnya .

Biasanya terbuat dari dua atau lebih batang besar yang diikat dengan rantai pendek; satu tongkat dipegang dan diayunkan, menyebabkan tongkat yang lain menghantam tumpukan biji-bijian, sehingga sekamnya terlepas. Dimensi dan bentuk gedik yang tepat ditentukan oleh generasi petani agar sesuai dengan jenis biji-bijian yang mereka panen. Misalnya, gedik yang digunakan oleh petani di Quebec untuk mengolah gandum umumnya terbuat dari dua potong kayu, ukuran gagangnya sekitar 15 m (49 ft) panjangnya 3 cm (1,2 in) dengan diameter, dan tongkat kedua berukuran sekitar 1 m (3,3 ft) panjangnya sekitar 3 cm (1,2 in) dengan diameter, dengan sedikit lancip ke arah ujung. Gedik untuk biji-bijian lain, seperti beras atau gandum jerman memiliki dimensi yang berbeda.
