Anton August van Vloten

Anton August van Vloten (Paiton, Probolinggo, Hindia-Belanda (kini Indonesia), 1864 – Maarssen, Stichtse Vecht, Belanda, 1920) adalah ahli agronomi Belanda. Ia merupakan pendiri Maarsseveense Stoomzuivelfabriek dan direktur Waterschap Bethune.[1] Di samping itu, ia juga pamong desa (wethouder) di Maarsseveen, Stichtse Vecht.[2]

Karir

Van Vloten terampil dalam teknik pertanian modern pada zaman itu dan mendirikan pabrik mentega yang berbasis tenaga uap, Maarsseveense Stoomzuivelfabriek. Akan tetapi, hal ini gagal karena tanah di sekitarnya (Bethunepolder) terlalu berawa, sehingga menyulitkan peternakan yang menjadi tempat bergantungnya pabrik tersebut dan ia harus menghabiskan banyak uang untuk drainase. Kemudian, ia mencoba hortikultura, namun juga tidak sampai sukses besar.[3]

Van Vloten adalah anggota dewan[1] dan pamong di Maarsseveen.[2]
