Alpha Canum Venaticorum (α CVn, α Canum Venaticorum), nama tradisionalnya adalah Cor Caroli, adalah bintang yang paling cerah di konstelasi Canes Venatici. Bintang ini merupakan bintang ganda dengan magnitudo 2.81.[1] Bintang-bintangnya terpisah dengan jarak 19.6 arcsecond dan dapat dilihat oleh teleskop kecil. Bintang ini berada pada jarak 110 tahun cahaya dari Bumi.

Komponen utama, α² Canum Venaticorum, merupakan bintang dengan magnitudo yang bervariasi antara +2.84 dan +2.98 dalam periode waktu 5.47 days.[2] Tipe dari bintang ini adalah A0. Pasangannya, α¹ Canum Venaticorum, adalah bintang dengan kategori F0, dan bermagnitudo +5.5.

Etimologi

Nama Cor Caroli memiliki nama lengkap Cor Caroli Regis Martyris yang diberikan oleh Sir Charles Scarborough untuk menghormati raja Inggris, Charles I,[3][4] yang dieksekusi selama perang saudara di Inggris dan digantikan oleh anaknya, Charles II.[5] Nama lain dari para astronom terdahulu adalah:
