迪士尼郵輪公司於1995年成立，同年公司委託意大利的芬坎特里造船公司（英语：Fincantieri）為其建造兩艘郵輪，迪士尼魔法號和迪士尼奇妙號（英语：Disney Wonder）。兩艘船各有900個船艙，可以容納2,400位乘客。

迪士尼也全資擁有位於巴哈馬群島內的漂流島，它是迪士尼郵輪公司的私人島嶼，只供迪士尼的郵輪獨家在此停泊。

2007年迪士尼郵輪公司再委託德國帕彭堡的邁耶爾造船廠（英语：Meyer Werft）建造兩艘更大的郵輪，迪士尼夢想號和迪士尼幻想號。兩艘船各可以容納4,000位乘客。並在第14層設有全球獨有的大水鴨兩棲過山車。

2017年7月31日，迪士尼郵輪在D23展會宣佈，在已整修完成的4艘郵輪之外，將再新建3艘郵輪，預計到2023年將有7艘郵輪服役。新建3艘郵輪排水量各達到13.5萬噸、預計房間數應該都是1,250間。[1]

2018年3月，迪士尼郵輪公司釋出了其新一代遊輪的首次渲染圖。這艘14萬噸的郵輪將由液化天然氣驅動，將容納至少2500名客人。2019年1月，卡納維拉爾港公佈的公共檔案中確認該船級為Triton。

2019年8月25日，第五艘船在D23博覽會上正式宣佈為迪士尼願望號。施工於2020年3月在德國Meyer Werft開始，由於新冠肺炎大流行，交貨日期後來發生了變化。在D23博覽會上還宣佈，長髮公主將在迪士尼願望中扮演船尾角色，華特迪士尼公司釋出了該船的設計模型，包括灰姑娘作為該船的中庭角色。
