歷史

尼普穆克族（英语：Nipmuc）是最早在諾斯伯勒一帶定居的族群[1]。1656年5月14日，因為麻薩諸塞灣殖民地議會重新安置位於薩德伯利農場（英语：Sudbury, Massachusetts）居民的決議，歐洲殖民者開始遷入諾斯伯勒地區[2]。1766年1月24日，諾斯伯勒區成立，與威斯特伯勒比鄰。1775年8月23日，諾斯伯勒區升格為諾斯伯勒鎮，1807年6月20日，馬爾伯勒（英语：Marlborough, Massachusetts）一部份鄰近諾斯伯勒的區域被重新劃分給了諾斯伯勒[3][4]。

1746年，該鎮發生了兩件大事，首先是該鎮居民決定將該鎮的鎮長職稱定為「Town Minister」，其次是鎮上第一座教堂（英语：[Colonial meeting house]]）完工。諾斯伯勒鎮的首位鎮長為約翰·馬丁（John Martyn）。
