第5届中国金鹰电视艺术节暨第22届中国电视金鹰奖于2004年9月16日在北京揭晓[1]，本届金鹰奖共收到观众选票96万多张，其中有效票78.2万多张[2]。颁奖典礼于9月25日下午在湖南广电中心举行，部分重要奖项在9月26日湖南国际会展中心举行的颁奖晚会上颁发，颁奖晚会由杨柳、曹颖主持。

评选机制

本届金鹰奖奖项仍为99个，增加了少儿电视文艺节目作品奖的评选，三次以上荣获“观众喜爱的演员”的艺术家今后不再参评，该演员若当年度确有特别优秀的作品，授予其“电视表演艺术成就奖”荣誉称号[3]。本届金鹰奖于6月27日公布候选名单，7月5日至8月20日进行观众投票，观众可通过信函、电话、手机短信和网络等多种形式参与长篇电视剧作品奖、观众喜爱的电视剧男女演员奖、综合电视文艺节目作品奖、电视节目主持人奖投票，为避免作弊将不公布实时票数。本届金鹰节“最佳表演艺术奖”，邀请于洋、田华、葛存壮、韩雪琴、贾持常等知名老艺术家组成的特聘观众评委对候选演员进行评选。“最具人气演员奖”“最佳表演艺术奖”的获奖演员都将得到上海通用提供的别克凯越轿车一辆。
