桑福德环形山（Sanford）是位于月球背面北半部的一座大型古撞击坑，约形成于45.5-39.2亿年前的前酒海纪^[1]，其名称取自美国天文学家罗斯科·弗兰克·桑福德（英语：Roscoe Frank Sanford）（Roscoe Frank Sanford，1883年-1958年），1970年被国际天文学联合会正式批准接受。

该陨坑西偏北毗邻克卢特环形山、东侧靠近泰塞朗·德博尔环形山，布朗克环形山位于它的东南、西南坐落了更大的焦耳环形山^[3]。

该陨坑中心月面坐标为32.38°N 139.21°W / 32.38; -139.21，直径55.09公里^[4]，深度约2.42公里^[1]。

桑福德环形山外观轮廓接近圆状，坑壁已明显磨损侵蚀。其东侧壁覆盖了一对小陨坑，西北侧则附靠了卫星坑桑福德 W和桑福德 Y，而西北偏北则与直径18.5公里的卫星坑桑福德 C相接壤，它的南侧部分重叠在一座更大、更破损的无名残迹坑上。桑福德环形山的内侧壁较宽坦，东南坡嵌入了一座小撞击坑。它的坑壁最大高出周边地形1170米^[1]，内部容积约2503立方千米^[1]。坑内地表较为平坦，沿西侧坡底显示有一座小废墟坑。
