İskoçya Kilisesi Genel Kurulu

İskoçya Kilisesi Genel Kurulu, İskoçya Kilisesi'nin egemen ve en yüksek mahkemesidir ve Kilise'nin yönetim organıdır.[1] Genelde her yıl toplanır ve Meclisin başında seçilen bir Moderatör kurula başkanlık eder.

Kilise Mahkemeleri ve Toplantılar

İskoçya Kilisesi, piskoposlar tarafından değil ihtiyar heyetleri tarafından yönetilmektedir. Mahkemeler hiyerarşisinin en altında kilise cemaatinin mahkemesi olan "Kirk Oturumu" yer almaktadır. Kirk oturumlarının temsilcileri yerel bölge mahkemesi olan Presbitery'yi oluşturur. Eskiden bölgesel düzeyde, bir grup presbiteryen üzerinde yetkiye sahip Sinod'lar da vardı, ancak bunlar kaldırılmıştır. Ulusal düzeyde 'Genel Kurul' bu yapının en tepesinde yer almaktadır.[2]

Genel Kurul toplantıları genellikle Edinburgh, Mound'daki Meclis Salonu'nda yapılmaktadır. Salon ilk olarak 19. yüzyılda Özgür Kilise için inşa edilmiştir. Bundan önce, 1845'ten 1929'a kadar Genel Kurul, Royal Mile'ın tepesindeki Victoria Hall'da (Highland Tolbooth Kirk) toplanmıştır. İskoçya Kilisesi 1929 yılında İskoçya Birleşik Özgür Kilisesi ile birleştiğinde, Mound binaları yeniden birleşen İskoçya Kilisesi için Meclis Salonu olarak seçildi. Bugün eski Victoria Hall binası, The Hub olarak seküler kullanımdadır.[3][4] Daha önceki Genel Kurullar İskoçya'nın büyük şehirlerindeki farklı kiliselerde gerçekleştirilmiştir.[5]
